New River Regional Ministry News
This video is an effort to give you a summary of the work we accomplished through the New River Regional Ministry of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Southeast Florida. Click on the image to see the video in full.
While we are very pleased with the results of our work--the number of people we have served, the measurable improvements in reading comprehension, the recognition we have begun to garner, those of us who are part of this ministry find the true meaning of our work in the delight we see in children's faces when they come to our programs. There is quiet victory in the relief that crosses a woman's face when she has successfully applied for food stamps or received food from our food pantry and knows her children will not go hungry.
There is enormous pride watching so many people step up from many faiths and walks of life step up with generosity and kindness as they find ways to serve and give to their community through NRRM.
It has been a wonderful year, and on behalf of Diana Fajardo, Debbie Gibbs, Carl Lauderman, Marlene Alfaro, Henry Figueredo and Andy Hudson, the staff members of our ministry, I thank you again for your part in making our work possible.
Our summer reading program, Aprendo Porque Juego, at Centro/St. Ambrose was featured on WLRN (National Public Radio) on Monday, August 6. An abbreviated transcript and an audio link for the broadcast are available here.
